June 3, 2021 – Waypoint is pleased to announce our new management agreement to write Accident and Health reinsurance for and on behalf of United Fire & Casualty Company, effective 7/1/21, subject to approval from the Iowa Insurance Division.
We currently have an agreement in place to underwrite Workers Compensation treaty reinsurance with UFG Insurance, so we are particularly proud to be able to expand on this past success.
“Waypoint has enjoyed our partnership with UFG and is excited to write medical and accident reinsurance on their behalf. We will be bringing on an underwriting and actuarial team with deep expertise on the medical side to complement our existing bench strength on special risk and accident business,” said Jason Denechaud, Managing Partner, Waypoint.
“We have always held the belief that if you treat your capacity partners well and do what you say you are going to do, these groups will look for ways to grow with Waypoint. The product expansion with UFG is a perfect example of this and we could not be more pleased to grow with such an important trading partner,” said Joseph Horan, Managing Partner, Waypoint.
United Fire & Casualty Group, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is rated “A” (Excellent) from A.M. Best. The company’s assumed reinsurance unit is led by Vice President and Chief Risk Officer Micah Woolstenhulme, who added, “UFG is once again pleased to be able to partner with Waypoint on this new reinsurance agreement, taking advantage of an exciting opportunity to further diversify our portfolio.
